A year ago I met the sweetest girl in the world, Mila. She has rocked our world since day one and we simply adore her. I wanted to make her first birthday party one to remember, and it did not disappoint! My hubby picked her party theme and many details, right down to her dress, gah! She’s a daddy’s girl for sure. The gorgeous cake was done by It’s Gonna Be Sweet Bakeshop and I could not have been happier with it! It was exactly what I envisioned and was delicious. Seriously, Dianne is extremely talented and I’m so happy to have her make all of my future cakes! The flowers were done by myself and my family and all of the little details were mainly found in Heaven, otherwise known as Hobby Lobby. Though the party was beautiful, Mila was totally over it. She is currently breaking her two front teeth and is so miserable. Needless to say, she spent most of the party nestled up with mom. We really enjoyed celebrating our girl with our family and friends.  I hope you enjoy scrolling through her birthday party and photoshoot!

I took a photograph of Mila every month from newborn to one year and displayed them side by side over the fireplace, I totally cried when I saw how much she’s changed even though it feels like she was just born yesterday!

This dream of mine turns two today and I couldn’t be more happy! What better way to celebrate than launching my new website? Well, cupcakes. Always cupcakes!

These past two years have been filled with lessons learned, wonderful people met, and lots of beautiful photographs. I am so very grateful for the opportunity to pursue my passion as a business. With reflecting always comes doubt and comparison, but as the saying goes “don’t compare your Chapter 1 to someone else’s Chapter 20.” I go into my third year of business refreshed and excited for all the people I will meet and the new things I will learn. I look forward to working with you. Laughing with your family and capturing your heart! It all makes this crazy dream of mine worth it!

Guys, I  seriously can’t stop staring at this session, and it has me thinking about what family means.

When I look at these pictures I don’t just see a couple, I see family.  Families start because two people fall in love, so even though this session isn’t the usual drool filled portrait, it’s still family. Robert and Camille walk through life intentionally, carefully nurturing their relationship with each other, instilling a spirit of adventure in their daughter Zara, and achieving things they have only dreamed of. They are seriously one of the sweetest couples I know! I hope that when you look through this session you not only see a beautiful couple, but a beautiful life shared together.

Now excuse me while I go cuddle with my hubby!

Hey, I’m glad you’re here!

In my time spent as a family photographer I’ve noticed a pattern, family pictures are so stressful on parents. It never fails. Parents arrive flustered and frustrated.  Traffic, hair and kids never seem to cooperate! Parents usually start apologizing the second they see me, “I’m so sorry we missed naptime” or “she just refused to wear the dress I picked out” are among the most popular. My response is always this: relax!

Being a children’s and family photographer means I am prepared to work with little people who aren’t always cooperative. It takes a lot of patience, quick hands, and love. Honestly, it’s love (and a lot of schooling because I have a degree in early childhood education). I love stopping time for parents, capturing those golden curls or the way their nose turns red when it gets cold. You see, even though you may be stressed about the perfect pictures, I’m not because your family is beautiful! I know that you will end up with pictures that you will love.

So from your photographer, relax! I’ve got you.

There are few things more exciting than a first birthday! Zara Ann just turned one and her parents couldn’t be happier to have such a sweet little girl. Zara loves the outdoors and felt right at home exploring the Dallas Arboretum on the day of our session. I was charmed by her big smiles, scrunchy face and adventurous spirit. I’m sure you will be too! Happy Birthday Zara!
