It’s Mother’s Day weekend and what better time is there to reflect on all things motherhood.

I am a stay-at-home-mom with three beautiful kids, and you guys it’s hard. There are days that we call in a pizza, get in our pj’s and hang with our buddy Netflix because it is just so overwhelming. We as moms give everything we have to our families, and sometimes that leaves us with very little left. To be honest, I’ve struggled. If you’re a mom reading this, I know that you will more than likely understand exactly what I’m talking about. The important thing here is that being a mother is the most rewarding job on the planet.

It’s a thankless job, but there is nothing that beats seeing your child smile. And if there’s one thing every parent hears, it’s “they grow so fast”. As time passes I’m finding it to be more and more true. It’s important for us to stop and enjoy them in this busy life we live. What’s even more important is documenting this time in their lives, with you there too.

Now having said all of that, brace yourself: I have not taken a single family portrait.

If i’m being honest, sometimes it’s a struggle to muster up the courage to go A N Y W H E R E. So the thought of getting in front of the camera with my wild bunch really gets my mom-xiety going, which is funny because I never feel that way working with my families. Having three kids back-to-back-to-back has also been so hard on my body. Instead of listening to the warm words my husband spoke and the “I love you mommy’s”, I listened to the voice in my head that told me I just wasn’t enough. I didn’t really realize how bad it got until I recently started eating clean and caring for my body. It makes me sad to look back and not have any photos of me and my kids. I mean, hello, I’m a photographer. I know the value.

So here it is, time doesn’t wait.

Time doesn’t wait for you to lose the baby weight.

Time doesn’t wait for you to gain the courage to tackle a photoshoot.

You are beautiful. Trust your photographer. Just do it, I promise you won’t regret it. It’s my mission to take family photos in 2018, will you hold me accountable?

I’m sharing my favorite mother-daughter moments of Kalie + Kinley, and their baby from their family session. I hope you enjoy scrolling through.
